Day 1: Pennsylvania

Making good time, we cross into Pennsylvania before 9am. But Pennsylvania is a very wide state, and we still have a whole day of driving ahead, so we can enjoy the scenery out the window, but no time for stopovers here…

DAY 1 PLAN:

DEPART: Nesconset New York, early a.m.
DRIVE: Nesconset to New York City to NJ to PA to OH (estimated 510 miles / 9 hours straight driving)
ARRIVE: Cuyahoga Valley National Park, OH, hike-in 1/4 mile to the Stanford House primitive campsites, and set up camp.

PENNSYLVANIA THINGS WE LIKE:
(even though we couldn’t stop in PA this time, here are some of our favorites…)
The Delaware Gap, because it is beautiful and not too far from NY…
The Appalachian Trail, a challenge for any serious hiker…
Phantom Fireworks, because we love things that go boom…
Penns Woods Jeep Jamboree, where the Jeep can have fun…
Ravensburg State Park, where there is a small tent-only campground…
