Day 1: New Jersey

Crossing the Bridge into New Jersey we can finally feel like we are on our way west. The whole country opens up from here after the bottleneck traffic on our way out of the NY metro region. Unfortunately we cannot really stop in New Jersey during this trip, though, because we need to get all the way to Ohio in time to set up camp before dark — that is an estimated 10+ hours of driving…

DAY 1 PLAN:

DEPART: Nesconset New York, early a.m.
DRIVE: Nesconset to New York City to NJ to PA to OH (estimated 510 miles / 9 hours straight driving)
ARRIVE: Cuyahoga Valley National Park, OH, hike-in 1/4 mile to the Stanford House primitive campsites, and set up camp.

We were on our way… Traffic is light and we made it to New Jersey in less than two hours! … [ read more ]

NEW JERSEY THINGS WE LIKE:
(even though we didn’t get to stop in NJ this time, here are a couple of our favorites…)
Atlantic City for the boardwalk (and the casinos, of course)…
Great Adventure, the amusement park, because we are all kids at heart….
Cowtown Rodeo, because it’s fun…
